Sustainable Sourcing, Social Compliance and Innovation

Excellent Facets has always prioritized ethical sourcing, social compliance and sustainability. Becoming a Rio Tinto Select Diamantaire in 2003 marked the beginning of a journey towards a fully traceable mine-to-market supply chain. This commitment was further reinforced in 2009, with the company’s entry into the fancy color diamond business, starting with pink diamonds from Australia’s Argyle Mine. Today, Excellent Facets holds a large inventory of these rare and beautiful stones.

To ensure ethical sourcing practices, all of Excellent Facets’ white diamonds are accompanied by their mine of origin, which is disclosed and uploaded to iTraceiT, a blockchain-based and tamper-proof traceability solution. Furthermore, our India-based manufacturing facility undergoes regular audits for social compliance.

In 2009, the company joined the Responsible Jewellery Council, emphasizing its dedication to responsible practices. This commitment was highlighted in 2016 when Excellent Facets acquired one of North America’s most significant diamonds: the 187.7 carat Diavik Foxfire, which was North America’s largest mined rough diamond at the time and was showcased at the Smithsonian Institute next to the world renowned Hope Diamond.

In 2023, Excellent Facets joined the Watch and Jewellery Initiative 2030, co-founded by Cartier and Kering, which accelerates positive impact in the areas of building climate resilience, preserving resources, and fostering inclusiveness.

In 2024, Excellent Facets joined Originalluxury.

Embracing the Future

In 2023, Deepak’s son, Amay Sheth, joined the family business, bringing with him a passion for sustainability and a vision for the future. Under his leadership, Excellent Facets audited its emissions and invested in renewable energy projects, achieving carbon neutrality certification for the year 2023.

The company’s expansion continued in 2024 with the opening of its Switzerland office, marking the first of many new locations to provide exceptional service to its customers.
